For some background, the previous generation of the BMW M5 2022 Competition featured springs that were so firm that they virtually rendered this performance sedan unusable in day-to-day driving. Even with the basic Comfort level of the suspension, you were still able to feel every single bump and imperfection on the road.
The basic BMW M5 includes front and rear springs that are 10% more rigid than those found on the Competition model, the rear anti-roll bar is harder, the front tires have higher negative camber for improved cornering grip, and the body sits 0.2 inches lower to the ground. The ride quality was intended to be improved by adding new shocks to the 2021 Competition BMW and recalibrating the damper control system. Both of these changes were made by BMW.
There are automobiles with large bodies and there are other cars with a lot of excitement. The BMW M5 is both, having a body that is derived from the standard 5-series but receiving a heart-and-lung transplant from the performance division of the BMW brand known as M. Under the hood is a magnificent twin-turbo V-8 that produces a staggering 600 horsepower and is attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.
The Competition package is an add-on that gives the vehicle 17 additional horsepower, a more soulful exhaust, stronger suspension, and Competition badging and trims as well. During testing, that variant accelerated to sixty miles per hour in 2.8 seconds. The M5 provides a high-end ride with a predilection for fireworks, and it was built to handle the rigors of alpine winding roads, blasts on the highway, and everyday life.
The sleek design of the BMW isn’t contrasted by a booming exhaust like its closest competition, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. However, the Bimmer’s excellent comfort and refinement place it among the finest in the luxury sports sedan market.
The BMW M5 portfolio will expand to include the limited-production Competition Sport (CS) model beginning with the 2022 model year. In addition to its one-of-a-kind chassis tuning and revised version of the BMW’s twin-turbo V-8 engine (which is now capable of producing 627 horsepower), the CS also benefits from a variety of weight-reducing techniques.
BMW asserts that it is the quickest and most powerful production car in the history of the firm and that it is 230 pounds lighter than the M5 Competition. The CS also has two rear bucket seats in addition to its lightweight, strongly cushioned M carbon-fiber front seats. These front seats are another unique characteristic of the CS.

BMW M5 Price
The BMW M5 is a four-seater sedan that can be purchased in the United States for a price that falls somewhere between $102,700 and $110,000. In the United States, consumers can choose from two different models, one engine option, and one transmission choice: automatic. The M5 measures 4966 millimeters in length, 1902 millimeters in width, and 1468 millimeters in height.
We’d be satisfied with the Comp’s list of track-capable components and its total of 617 horses if we could upgrade our choice to the Executive package, though. It includes a plethora of driver-assistance and luxury features, such as a 360-degree camera system, ventilated front-seat cushions with built-in massagers, heated front and rear seats, parking sensors at both ends, power-operated rear window shades, self-parking assist, and soft-close doors. In addition, it has a larger battery capacity than the standard model.
The BMW M5 has a suggested retail price (RRP) range that goes anywhere from £107,520 to £126,520 in the United Kingdom. BMW M5 HP (Horsepower)
An upgraded version of BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine can be found behind the hood of the M5 Competition. This engine is capable of producing 625 horsepower. However, the CS has 635 more horsepower than this. The amount of torque that each produces is 750 Nm.
In addition to this, the M5 CS is 70 kg lighter than the M5 Competition. This is because it comes standard with components such as carbon-ceramic brakes and those bucket seats with carbon-backed backs.
In under 2.9 seconds, we were able to time the M5 Competition going from 0 to 60 miles per hour, but the CS was slightly quicker, coming in at 2.8 seconds.
The lively and direct steering, along with the well-controlled, albeit stiff, ride, contribute to the overall high level of driving enjoyment offered by this vehicle. However, this does not preclude the M5 from serving a dual role as a luxury sedan. The interior remains remarkably quiet when the vehicle is in Comfort mode.
BMW M5 MPG (Miles Per Gallon)
The current generation of the BMW M5 has been rated by the EPA to get 15 miles per gallon in the city and 21 miles per gallon on the highway. Both of these numbers are lower than those that are achieved by the Mercedes-AMG E63 S sedan (16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway). BMW M5 Interior and Space

Both the BMW M5 Competition and the BMW M5 CS have great seating positions and come with a variety of adjustment options to help the driver find a comfortable driving posture. In reality, the CS’s front bucket seats, which have an aggressive appearance, are much more comfy and supportive than they appear.
The back doors open up nice and wide, making it simple to hop in the back seat of the vehicle. There is an abundant amount of legroom, and even the adults who are the tallest won’t feel crowded in the head or shoulder areas. Because there are only two seats in the back of the CS, there is significantly more shoulder room than there is in a Mercedes E-Class. I want to emphasize once more how supportive they are.
When traveling for an extended time in the M5 Competition, a third passenger won’t have a particularly pleasant experience.
The cabin is equipped with a plethora of practical cubbyholes. The door bins in the front and rear of the vehicle are both capacious enough to store a large water bottle, and the door bins in the front of the vehicle have just enough extra space to stow away a second, more compact bottle.
There are two huge cupholders in the front of the vehicle, and there are also two cupholders in the back that fold out of the armrest that folds down in the back. There is a large storage container hidden below the front armrest when it is divided in half, and there is a slot under the dashboard for a phone or the key to your vehicle.
A big bottle may be stored in the glovebox without difficulty, and there is a tiny storage tray located between the front seats for passengers in the back to use for their other belongings.
The trunk capacity of the M5 Competition and CS is 530 liters, which is the same as that of any other model in the 5-Series lineup and is just somewhat lower than that of the Mercedes E-Class. However, while the rear seats of the M5 Competition can be folded down, the rear seats of the M5 CS cannot be folded down since they are set in place.
If the rear seats are folded down, the trunk area of the BMW M5 Competition is large enough to accommodate a bicycle if the wheels are removed first. Unfortunately, to work on the M5 CS, the bike needs to have practically all of its components removed.
