Chevrolet Corvette 2023 Specs and Photos

Chevrolet Corvette (2)

Overview

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette preserves the nameplate’s decades-long legacy as an automotive icon by providing supercar performance, an accessible price tag, and flamboyant style, but it does so with a mid-engine configuration instead of the traditional front-engine layout.

The current C8 is the first iteration of Chevy’s halo sports car to have its naturally aspirated V-8 engine positioned behind the passenger compartment. This placement pushes the C8 into the realm of exotic equipment and elevates the status of Chevy’s halo sports car.

Its razor-sharp handling and explosive acceleration are comparable to those seen in sports cars that cost tens of thousands of dollars more, but it is also comfortable and refined enough to be driven for long distances. The C8 is available in both a convertible and a coupe configuration, and the roof panel of the hardtop version can be removed to let more light into the cabin of the convertible version.

Because it has a cabin that is not only compact but also pleasant, and a trunk that offers sufficient space for both food and luggage, the Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car that is simple to use daily. This evergreen classic never fails to enchant us, and we have no doubt that it will do the same for you.

No other automobile may be quite as quintessentially American as the Chevrolet Corvette. Despite this, the Detroit auto giant chose to truly mix things up and look to Europe for inspiration while building the eighth edition of its most famous nameplate. This was done to differentiate itself from its competitors.

Not only does the newest model of the legendary sports car have a daring new look, but it is also the first to use a configuration that places the engine in the middle of the vehicle. When the bold change was announced in the summer of 2019, it caused a stir and excited a large portion of the vehicle’s devoted audience, yet at the same time, it horrified more than a few purists.

In 2023, what can we expect in Chevrolet Corvette?

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the introduction of the Chevrolet Corvette, and in honor of this momentous occasion, Chevrolet will release a unique commemorative edition. The 70th Anniversary model will only be offered in the most expensive 3LT trim level, although customers will have the option of selecting either the coupe or convertible body type for their vehicle.

White Pearl Metallic and Carbon Flash Metallic are the two exterior color options, and customers have the option of purchasing their vehicle with or without racing stripes in Satin Gray or Satin Black. Other exterior enhancements include special dark-finish aluminum wheels with 70th Anniversary center caps, red brake calipers, and special exterior badging. Seats in the 70th Anniversary edition are upholstered in leather and feature microfiber and red stitching accents. Additionally, a set of unique baggage that matches the vehicle’s interior is provided.

The 70th Anniversary package is also offered on the high-performance Z06 model, but our coverage of that vehicle will be presented in a different article. Other improvements for the 2023 model year include new designs for 20-inch wheels, optional black tailpipes, new Stealth Aluminum interior trim, and an available Adrenaline Red Dipped cabin theme that covers the dash and door panels in red upholstery. All of these features can be found on vehicles manufactured in 2023.

The Chevrolet Corvette can be purchased as either a coupe or a convertible with a top that can be folded down. Since the coupe’s roof can be removed for open-air driving in any case, we think you should keep the coupe. Instead of spending the money on the base model, we’d spend it on the 2LT version, which adds several features, such as a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charging pad, heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, a 14-speaker Bose stereo system, blind-spot monitoring, and a lot of other features as well.

The Z51 performance package is another essential addition to your Chevrolet Corvette since it includes all of the most cutting-edge performance-oriented components available.

After three years, it is reasonable to assert that Chevy’s bold wager was successful. The Chevrolet Corvette 2023 has been met with resounding acclaim from members of the automotive press as well as customers.

The one significant drawback of the automobile is how challenging it might be to get one. The previous three years have been plagued by just about every conceivable type of production delay, including strikes, shutdowns induced by the coronavirus epidemic, supply chain challenges, and even a tornado that destroyed 120 prototypes that had just been built.

Chevy is getting ready to begin manufacturing the car’s fourth model year and is optimistic that the road ahead will be less difficult. Regardless, it does not appear that demand for the C8 will decrease anytime shortly. Everything you need to know about the prized sports automobile is included in this article.

Chevrolet Corvette Engine

Chevrolet Corvette (8)

Although the engine has been moved, it is still a 6.2-liter V-8. However, it now produces 490 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. This is because it is located behind the passenger compartment rather than in front of it. Chevrolet Corvette has a maximum output of 495 horsepower when equipped with the dual-mode performance exhaust that is included in the Z51 package.

Additionally, a more aggressive braking system, summer tires, and an electronic limited-slip rear differential are included in the Z51 option package. The only gearbox option is a dual-clutch automatic transmission with eight speeds, which is a first for the Corvette. Either a gear selector with push-button controls that are located on the center console or two huge shift paddles that are installed on the steering wheel are used to operate it.

Manual transmissions are not available. In the course of our testing, we were able to achieve a time of 2.8 seconds when going from 0 to 60 miles per hour, and we were able to complete the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds while traveling 122 miles per hour in a vehicle that was fitted with the Z51 performance package and the optional FE4 magnetorheological dampers.

We were able to achieve a braking distance of 149 feet from 70 miles per hour and a skid pad acceleration of 1.03 g’s. However, even in its most basic configuration, the new Chevrolet Corvette is capable of heroic handling and offers a significant amount of excitement on both the road and the track.

The C8 Corvette features a Driver Mode Selector that gives the driver the ability to choose between six different driving modes, including Tour, Sport, Track, Weather, MyMode, and Z Mode, to assist in the management of all that power (the latter two of which are customizable).

In addition to that, it features a four-wheel anti-lock braking system, with disc brakes and four-piston calipers installed on each wheel individually. In addition, the Z51 package comes with an electronic limited-slip differential, a redesigned final drive ratio, an improved brake cooling system, a better suspension, and a performance exhaust.

Gas mileage and fuel economy of 2023 Chevrolet Corvette

Chevrolet Corvette (5)

The EPA gives the Chevrolet Corvette a combined fuel efficiency rating of 19 mpg, with a city rating of 15 mpg and a highway rating of 27 mpg. We put it through our fuel-efficiency test on the highway for 200 miles and got a total of 26 mpg, which was 1 mpg lower than we anticipated. In the same test, the previous generation of the Corvette—remember when it had the engine in the front?—managed to achieve 27 miles per gallon.

Chevrolet Corvette Interior, Cargo Space, and Amenities

Chevrolet Corvette (7)

The interior of the modern Chevrolet Corvette is lined in materials such as leather, actual metal trim, and fake suede; it even has a fancy stitched headliner. Additionally, the Corvette continues to be a two-seater-only vehicle. Concerning the roof, it can be removed on the coupe, just like it could be removed on earlier models of the Corvette, and it can be stored in the trunk that is located right behind the engine compartment.

In addition, the rear trunk has space for two golf bags, and the space in the front trunk may be used for luggage or goods when the roof is being stored. A huge infotainment touchscreen is tilted toward the driver for ease of use. The driver is seated behind a squared-off steering wheel and a 12.0-inch reconfigurable gauge display.

The interior design takes the idea of focusing on the driver to its logical conclusion by dividing the cockpit with a tall bank of buttons that regulate the climate control system of the vehicle. The inside of the Corvette is nice all things considered. If you upgrade to the 3LT package, you will receive better materials such as stitched leather on most of the interior surfaces and carbon fiber trim.

In addition, the 3LT package comes with certain additional features. One trunk section is located in front of the passenger compartment, and the other is located behind the engine; together, these two trunk spaces provide a total of 13 cubic feet of storage space for the new Corvette.

According to Chevrolet, the rear compartment of the Corvette is large enough to accommodate two sets of golf clubs if they are placed one on top of the other. Because we had no trouble stowing our golf clubs throughout our evaluations, it appears that Chevy’s claim is warranted.

We were able to fit one of our carry-on-size suitcases in the front trunk of the Corvette and two of them in the rear compartment when we checked to see if there was enough for all of our luggage.

2023 Chevrolet Corvette Connectivity and Informational System

The  Chevrolet Corvette 2023 is equipped with Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 Plus system, which has a touchscreen measuring 8.0 inches in size, Bluetooth music streaming capability, a 4G LTE mobile hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. The system is intuitive to operate and responds rapidly to any orders that are issued.
